Strawberry Cookie Jar

This hand-built ceramic cookie jar, shaped like a large strawberry, draws inspiration from vintage American ceramics and kitsch art. Using coils, I created the form and stamped the surface with a handmade strawberry design, carving around each berry for a textured background. The strawberries are painted with underglaze, and the lid is also hand-painted to complement the piece. In this work, I've experiment with combining my love for two mediums, printmaking and ceramics, by incorporating my handmade clay stamps to create a print-like effect on the surface of the jar. Through this playful, nostalgic design, I explore the charm of retro kitchenware while adding my own personal touch. The jar blends function with whimsy, reflecting my ongoing exploration of how everyday objects can evoke both memory and individuality.
